In a battle between two unpopular administrations, voters chose Donald Trump – who replicates Grover Cleveland’s non-consective terms. Back in the 1880s and 1890s, the country was pretty much equally split between the two. It’s almost fitting that Trump wins in a nearly equally split electorate because he wants to bring back the spoils system which was relevant in the years leading up to Cleveland’s time.
The next two years could be really disruptive to the American way of life as no public institution, including the Constitution, is going to be free from change – unless the DEMS somehow control the House of Representatives and minimize that change. Let’s hope that whatever change occurs will be for the good and that whatever happens, the disruptions are minimal.
